The Canadian Textile Industry Association (CTIA) recognizes the importance of buying Canadian and of national self-sufficiency for essential products, particularly textiles used in defence, PPE, and medical applications. These markets also represent significant long-term growth opportunities for Canadian companies.
To address this, CTIA established the Sourcing and Local Procurement Committee, mandated to examine issues related to public and private procurement processes, report findings to members, and advocate for greater consistency in government tendering across Canada.
The committee represents the industry in meetings with federal and provincial procurement authorities, and works alongside national associations that share concerns about public procurement policy in Canada.
Its mandate also includes promoting and encouraging local purchasing among CTIA members and the broader Canadian business community.
